FANFICTION UPDATE: 29 November 2018

In chapter ten of What Men Want have a midnight rendezvous in the kitchen...

FANFICTION UPDATE: 24 November 2018

I don't think that chapter nine of What Men Want needs any "introduction". It's just filler, really. 😋

FANFICTION UPDATE: 18 November 2018

Sorry, it took so long for me to update. First I went on my last vacation before the end of the year and then had to deal with a messy leak in the bathroom...Now that all is well again (and the bathroom usable), I can concentrate on the blog.

In the eight chapter of What Men Want Ryo and Kaori argue about his overprotective streak.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 1 October 2018

In the seventh chapter of What Men Want Kaori glimpses Ryo's darker thoughts.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 26 September 2018

In the sixth chapter of What Men Want Saeko tries to talk some sense into Ryo and, when that fails, has another job for him.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 21 September 2018

In the fifth chapter of What Men Want Kaori is acting differently toward Ryo, puzzling her partner, while his reaction to a certain female cop is absolutely nothing out of the norm.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 16 September 2018

The fourth chapter of What Men Want is one of those people got a little fed up with the first time around. 😋
Is it real, is it a fantasy, is it a dream? And if it's a dream, whose dream is it? It's pretty much open to interpretation at this point.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 12 September 2018

There's a new one-shot on this site. In C'est la vie Kaori receives not-so-good news, because let's face it, life sometimes sucks...Even if you can count on a man like Saeba Ryo.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 11 September 2018

I received some bad news today, so I need some uplifting. You're happy, I'm happy, so here's a new update.

In the third chapter of What Men Want Kaori tried to work out the kinks of her new "ability".

FANFICTION UPDATE: 6 September 2018

In the second chapter of What Men Want just as Kaori convinces herself she's either imagined hearing thoughts the day before or there's something much more serious wrong with her, both Umibozu and Ryo prove her wrong.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 2 September 2018

It's been more than three years since I updated this particular story, but I love this chapter too much to wait. And I love the cliffhanger even more. 😉
In the fourth chapter of Homecoming, Kaori learns of what's happened to her "family" in the years she's been absent...

FANFICTION UPDATE: 1 September 2018

It's still late August, if you squint really hard. 😋
And, as promised, here's the beginning of the "saga" (writing it sure feels like one). In the first chapter of What Men Want Kaori hits her head during a job and learns she's apparently developed a new ability.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 19 August 2018

You guessed it. 😉
Read all about it in the second (and final) chapter of An Enchanted Evening.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 18 August 2018

Kaori has had a bad day...and it's all Ryo's fault. The man has had her chasing a phantom client for hours and then has the gall not to be there, when she wants to kill him.
You can read more in the first chapter of a two-chapter story that was too long to be a "vignette".

BLOG POST: 17 August 2018

I finally discovered the causes for (some of) my writing blocks...It's a relief, really, finally knowing what is causing these some short, others decades-long, blocks. Recognizing them, maybe in the future, I can steer clear...read more

FANFICTION UPDATE: 11 August 2018

The third "installment" in the Vignettes of Life so-called series was plotted out early one morning and written later the same day while on a cruise on the Volga-Baltic waterway (more specifically, we were on the river Svir that day).
It's just a silly little glimpse into one of Kaori's "pet-peeves" about herself and the sweet way Ryo has of calming her down while also telling her how much she means to him...After all, they're A perfect fit.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 4 August 2018

The second one-shot in the Vignettes of Life features a sweet little moment between Ryo and Kaori on the couch. You can go ahead and get your mind out of the gutter folks, they're just taking an Afternoon nap.

FANFICTION UPDATE: 23 July 2018

Ooh, it's been a while, since I updated the fanfiction portion of this site, but here you have it. The latest proof of my renewed (once-in-a-decade) obsession with City Hunter. And I'm not talking about the hilarious-without-meaning-to-be Korean drama of a few years past featuring a hero that looked nothing like the real City Hunter.

Anyway, since there's so many ideas brewing inside my head, many of those for one-shots, some of them funny, some of them adorable and some of them sad, but all of them involving the two "roomies" in the apartment on the 6th and 7th floor of a certain balconied building in Shinjuku, to make it some sort of collection.
The stories are not connected (beside the main characters) and they don't follow a specific timeline. They're simply one chapter stories featuring more-or-less important moments in the Saeba household and the relationship between Kaori and Ryo.

The first one is up as of today. First (real) kiss deals with the possible "aftermath" of the manga finale, the infamous declaration of feelings in the clearing...Hope you enjoy it.

BLOG POST: 17 July 2018

I'm feeling all nostalgic of late and have started re-reading City Hunter mangas, because I sure miss those two huge, lovable idiots (Ryo and Kaori, that is). I even started writing Homecoming as well...Only to end up blocked once more because I made such a mess of things. I like the next couple of chapters, though, so I'm not changing a word, I just have to wiggle myself out of the problem I created. Give me time.

And then, because I'm a nostalgic sap, I went and started reading everything I've ever written on the subject of City Hunter. Some of the earlier works sure made me cringe (my writing style was appalling back then), but the stories made me laugh and cry and sigh...I felt everything I felt as I wrote them and everything I wanted the reader to feel.

I also cringed at the fact I left one of my longer fic unfinished for more than a decade. Why did I leave it like that when the ending was so nigh. All those years obviously offered a much needed perspective and the story and plot are so clear in my head right now, I cannot believe I left it stagnate so long.
I guess I just needed the right moment, the right push...Or the right amount of nostalgia.

The fanfic I'm talking about is What Men Want...read more
